Spirit of Sparrow is a dedicated hobby breeder of Border Collies in Braunschweig. The kennel owes its name to the first Border Collie, Sparrow, whose exceptional character inspired this project. It is affiliated with the Club für Britische Hütehunde e.V. and places passion and responsible rearing at the heart of its work. The breeding goal is to produce healthy, athletic and family-suitable Border Collies that prove themselves to be versatile companions in everyday life. Particular importance is placed on a clear, well-established temperament, enthusiasm for work and the ability to settle down independently after activity. The dogs should be suitable both for work and dog sports as well as for a balanced family life. The kennel makes intensive use of the puppies’ first eight weeks of life to gently familiarise them with different environmental stimuli. Excursions into the forest and city, visits to a dog training ground and initial educational exercises are part of this. Contact with adult dogs, children and unfamiliar people is supervised in a controlled setting so that the puppies are well prepared for a wide range of everyday situations.
