Old Man´s Luck is a hobby kennel breeding Australian Shepherds in Gangelt, in the Niederbusch district near the Dutch border. The quiet surroundings in the Heinsberg district are characterized by meadows and woodland; cows and horses are part of the rural landscape. The location is around 20 kilometers north of Aachen and offers little traffic as well as plenty of nature. The kennel’s breeding experience dates back to 1993, when the first Australian Shepherd moved in. The following year, two females from the USA were added, before the first litter was born in 1996. Another male from the USA joined the dogs in 1998. From 2000, the breeding program took a break for several years. The kennel is registered with ASCA in the USA. Before being used for breeding, the dogs are examined for MDR1 and tested by DNA. Examinations for hip and elbow dysplasia are also part of the health program. In addition, their eyes are genetically tested for PRA and CEA. In this way, Old Man´s Luck places importance on verifiable health examinations of the dogs intended for breeding.
