The breeding of Australian Kelpies began in 1999 with the first bitch of their own; in 2009, Jelle, the first double-registered Kelpie (WKC and FCI), was added. Selection is based on health, working instinct and temperament; to expand the gene pool, Australian Kelpies are mated with Working Kelpies. Bitches: Mar Kelpiebrink, Marie Curie Kelpiebrink, Black & Tan Fien Caobrink, Allie Caobrink. Dogs: Black River Kennel Quantum, Creative Cicero Kimbilio, Ridgey Didge Meris (France). The dogs live as family members and accompany their owners hiking, cycling, doing agility and herding sheep. In the first weeks, the puppies are socialized early and their character is observed in order to place them appropriately; they receive FCI pedigrees. The website contains health pages (including hip dysplasia, epilepsy and eye diseases) as well as offers for dog boarding and training with accommodation.
