Gestüt Barbarella in Sondershausen has been dedicated to breeding Border Collies for many years. The move into dog breeding took place around 14 years ago, after Friesian horses and Holsteiners had already been bred. The joy of working with the dogs and the successes achieved led to Border Collie breeding becoming the main focus. The former horse breeding operation was ended for health reasons. However, some horses and ponies continue to belong to the Gestüt’s stock. In addition to them, numerous Border Collies live there, whose keeping and breeding are now the main focus. A separate dog house is available for female dogs with their puppies. It has five separate boxes as well as spacious runs directly in front of them. This design provides the mothers and their offspring with their own area and creates good conditions for their accommodation.
