Licensed by Scottish Borders County Council and subject to regular authority and veterinary inspections, the breeding programme includes DNA screening of stud dogs for breed-related conditions. Puppies are veterinary checked, microchipped and issued with individual identification cards before they leave. The kennel raises puppies alongside children and other animals to support early socialisation. Positive-reinforcement training is central to its approach, informed by experience with gundogs, search work and assistance dogs. Abergwenllan offers ongoing advice to owners and will take back one of its puppies should this become necessary.
